As the only UK OEM <\/span><span class=\"s8\">for<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> gas detection instrumentation, ION Science is always looking for new ways to support the end-user against dangerous gas exposures. The launch of the ARA H<sub>2<\/sub>S<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> (hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s8\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s8\">)<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> single gas detector signals a new focus on protecting staff from the dangers of exposure<\/span><span class=\"s8\">,<\/span><span class=\"s8\"> and aids in health and safety PPE for businesses<\/span><span class=\"s8\">.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s5\">Hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> is present in <\/span><span class=\"s5\">several<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> industries<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, notably in anaerobic environments where organic material is in use, such as wastewater and sewage plants, paper and pulp processing, biogas, and fertiliser p<\/span><span class=\"s5\">roduction<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. Many people are familiar with the rotten egg smell <\/span><span class=\"s5\">associated with <\/span><span class=\"s5\">hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, <\/span><span class=\"s5\">although at high levels of concentration it can cause anosmia, rendering it undetectable. Hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> is classed as a <\/span><span class=\"s5\">hazardous VOC, and exposure to it can cause irritation to the respiratory system, eyes, and stomach even at low concentrations. Higher concentrations of the gas can le<\/span><span class=\"s5\">a<\/span><span class=\"s5\">d to unconsciousness, coma, and even death. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/hydrogen-sulfide\"><span class=\"s9\">Between 2001 and 2010, hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s9\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s9\"> exposure was responsible for the deaths of 60 workers in the USA alone.<\/span><\/a> <span class=\"s5\">Many workers who are exposed to fatal levels of hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> could have been protected and saved with units such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ionscience.com\/en\/products\/ara-h2s-single-gas-detector\/?utm_source=Cogent&amp;utm_medium=PR&amp;utm_campaign=ARA_H2S_PR_Promotion_November&amp;utm_id=ARA_H2S_PR_Promotion_November&amp;utm_term=h2s+sensor&amp;utm_content=ARA_H2S_PR_Promotion_November\"><span class=\"s9\">ARA H<sub>2<\/sub>S.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s5\">The ARA H<sub>2<\/sub>S is designed to protect users from toxic levels of exposure to hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\">.<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> Classed as an item of personal protective equipment (PPE), the ARA H<sub>2<\/sub>S is completely maintenance free and offers continuous monitoring <\/span><span class=\"s5\">of exposure to hydrogen <\/span><span class=\"s5\">sulfide<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> levels. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">No need to change batteries or sensors or worry about product reliability, the e-chem detection technology inside can operate without interference. It offers <\/span><span class=\"s5\">a choice of display for users, either a lifetime countdown or concentration lifetime exposure<\/span><span class=\"s5\">, and it\u2019s possible to switch between the two if desired<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">The ARA H<sub>2<\/sub>S can also provide short term exposure limit<\/span><span class=\"s5\">s<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> (STEL) or <\/span><span class=\"s5\">eight<\/span><span class=\"s5\">hour<\/span><span class=\"s5\"> time weighted average (TWA) readouts for greater visibility into the overall health of a worker.<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=&#8221;256587&#8243; animation=&#8221;Fade In&#8221; hover_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; alignment=&#8221;&#8221; border_radius=&#8221;none&#8221; box_shadow=&#8221;none&#8221; image_loading=&#8221;default&#8221; max_width=&#8221;100%&#8221; max_width_mobile=&#8221;default&#8221;][vc_column_text]\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s5\">Each unit is designed with a two-year lifespan, and the ARA H2S operates without compromise over that period.
