{"id":247129,"date":"2018-02-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ionscience.com\/news\/download-free-guide-benzene-related-health-issues\/"},"modified":"2018-02-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T00:00:00","slug":"download-free-guide-benzene-related-health-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ionscience.com\/in\/news\/download-free-guide-benzene-related-health-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Download our FREE Guide: Benzene Related Health Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ION Science has published a new FREE Guide, <strong>An Introduction to Benzene\u00a0Related\u00a0Health Issues<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Guide has been created to ensure you understand the specific worldwide concerns over benzene and make you aware of benzene related health issues and why benzene should be monitored.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/ipcs\/features\/benzene.pdf?ua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Health Organisation<\/a> (WHO) there is <strong>no safe level of exposure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Regular exposure can lead to long-term effects including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>myeloid leukaemia<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>lymphocytic leukaemia<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>non-Hodgkins lymphoma<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>multiple myeloma<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>aplastic anaemia<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Hazardous chemicals that pose a risk to human health are present in many raw materials such as oil. Normally these are safely transported and contained within process pipework and reaction vessels during normal plant operation. However, routine plant repair and maintenance (planned turnaround) or a fugitive release, due to faulty flanges on valves for example, can potentially expose workers above the legal occupational exposure limit (OEL). Benzene, a hydrocarbon and volatile organic compound (VOC), is one such hazardous chemical. Found in oil refining and is an intermediary in the widespread manufacture of many commonly used plastics.
