ION Science Ltd is happy to help support a southern UK non-profit organisation with their quest to help the vulnerable and elderly.
The Blue Lamp Trust are dedicated to promoting and enhancing community safety throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The charity offers free home security visits, installs carbon monoxide alarms and provides advice to vulnerable people, particularly the elderly and victims of burglary and domestic abuse.
During a home visit, The Blue Lamp Trust installs CO alarms. Carbon monoxide is produced by fuel burning appliances, for example, clothes dryers, boilers, grills, and water heaters. Exposure to carbon monoxide can cause headaches, dizziness, confusion, and vomiting. Once it enters the human body, it stops blood from carrying oxygen to the organs, tissues and cells which can become deadly.
The Blue Lamp Trust has five engineers across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight that visit the homes of the vulnerable (aged over 65), disabled, or victims of household crime to install the CO detectors. These engineers will wear the ARA CO single gas detectors for their personal safety when entering the home.
The ARA CO single gas detector provides 24 months of continuous operation. The self-test feature allows the engineers to test the carbon monoxide detectors audio, visual and vibration alarms before entering the home providing confidence and reassurance that the instrument is working to its high standards.
The Blue Lamp Trust relies on donations to fund their work. If you would like to donate, please click here.
