Hydrosteel® 6500: Advanced Hydrogen Flux Corrosion Monitor

Charging the Hydrosteel® 6500 in an ATEX (hazardous) zone using the standard charger is not permitted the battery must be recharged in a non-hazardous area with the supplied Hydrosteel® 6500 charger.

For permanent installations in hazardous areas, a specially approved intrinsically safe charging supply (10V, 100 mA) must be used.

Register your instrument online within one month of purchase to qualify for an extended warranty.

The device uses magnetic probes to attach to steel surfaces, drawing air between the probe and metal to capture and quantify hydrogen flux.

A fully charged battery supports up to 70 hours of continuous operation.

The probe plate is the only point of contact between the instrument and the test area, so maintaining it to its original standard is critical for accurate readings. It is recommended to replace a used probe plate with a new one if:
A) The probe plate’s underside shows more than one crease.
B) The probe plate’s underside exhibits more than a few dimples (raised or depressed spots).
C) The probe plate’s side profile is severely bent (note that a slightly and uniformly curved plate is acceptable).
D) Upon removal of the probe plate, the top side displays an impression of most of the spiral ridge from the underside.

It’s used in petrochemical and refinery operations, sour gas pipeline monitoring, hydrogen bake outs, and materials testing.

The Hydrosteel^® 6500 measures hydrogen flux from steel.

More specifically, it measures the rate at which hydrogen is emerging from (or passing through) a steel surface in real time. This is known as hydrogen flux and is typically expressed as the amount of hydrogen per unit area per unit time.
