We are marking the end of our 25th anniversary year with the fantastic news that ION Science has finally been awarded planning permission to build a new 1500 square metre eco-friendly, state-of-the-art production and office facility in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire.
This eco-friendly building will help us to continue growing on a global basis and has been designed with employee comfort and well-being in mind. It will mean we can expand our workforce without worrying about space restrictions and enable us to further increase focus on the development of market leading gas detection instrumentation.
Our green credentials and CSR commitment are incredibly important to us and the new facility will be built using the very latest energy efficient and environmentally friendly construction practices. The external surroundings are just as vital so we will be planting new trees to encourage wildlife.
Our original planning application was rejected by South Cambridgeshire District Council by the lowest margins. After months of appeal, the planning committee has seen no reason why the project should not go ahead.
On hearing the news that planning permission had finally been awarded, our Managing Director, Duncan Johns said:

Our on-going expansion has meant we’ve now outgrown our existing premises and are in desperate need for more light assembly, research and office space. Our existing staff will benefit from working in a more modern, purpose built environment and having more space at their disposal. It will also help enhance production efficiencies which will have a positive impact on lead time and service delivery.”
