The ARA single gas detection series is a cost-effective, personal detector with 24 months of continuous operation. This wearable gas detector has only one button to make sure it is simple while alerting workers when health levels exceed set safety levels. The instrument has a self-test feature to test audio, visual, and vibrating alarms to give users confidence before each use.

This series gives out live readings and event logging and downloading to maintain all data information and employee safety onsite. Its instantaneous alarms, adjustable high/low alarms, and calibration and bump test reminders allow for easy maintenance and ultimate safety. The ARA gas detection series also features a lifetime remaining countdown to assist users plan for future projects and site shutdowns. Wearers of the device can also display data as live readings or lifetime remaining.

The sensor for the device is a single plug-in electrochemical cell and ingress protection (IP67). The instrument is light-weight at only 3.2 oz and features a liquid crystal display (LCD). The three alarms are audio (95dB at 10 cm), visual LED, and vibrating (operates at ± 10 °C.

There are four types of gases this series is able to detect: H2S, O2, CO, and SO2. For H2S and CO ARA users, there is an option to purchase our hibernation alternative. This option gives users the same capabilities as the original ARA device but features hibernation mode to extend the life of the device up to 36 months. ARA IR link* allows customers to download 30 recent event logs and configure settings including user ID, low/high alarms, self-test intervals, and bump test intervals.

The detection range for each gas is as follows:

  • H2S: 0 to 100 ppm
  • CO: 0 to 300 ppm
  • SO2: 0 to 50 ppm
  • O2: 0 to 25 %

The operating temperature for H2S, CO, and SO2 is -40 to 60 °C while the operating temperature for O2 is – 30 to 60 °C. Humidity resistance for all gas types is 5-95% RH. Applications featuring this gas detection series include sitewide safety, confined space entry, plant shutdown processes, and first response safety.

To accompany the ARA gas detector range, ION Science offers our newest product: the ARA DOCK 4 bump test and calibration station. This can simultaneously test up to four ARA gas detectors at once, saving time when testing and gas usage. The ARA DOCK 4 is ideal for larger plants and operations and the need to keep devices up to date with calibration and testing. It has a rechargeable internal battery that offers up to five hours of operation when fully charged. The ARA DOCK 4 is certified electrically safe to UL 61010-1.

With greater monitoring and protection against hydrogen sulfide exposure risks, it is possible to reduce the number of work-related incidents and improve overall worker safety. Using cost-effective and worker-specific devices like the ARA H2S Single Gas Detector is an easy way for businesses to add another layer to the occupational health and safety strategy. Combining this with the ARA DOCK 4 means all devices can be kept in peak condition for testing and monitoring at all times.

ION Science continues to support the improvement of worker health and safety through monitoring devices, testing stations, PPE and expert insight for gas detection and instruments.
